What exactly is the Hendersonville Citizens Fire Academy (HCFA)?
The HCFA is a community leadership program designed to give you an inside look into the Hendersonville Fire Department. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
When are the academy classes held and how long do they last?
We hold academy sessions in the Spring and Fall of each year. Each academy program runs for approximately 6-8 weeks. Most classes are held on Thursday evenings and last about two hours.d
Who is eligible to join the academy? Are there physical requirements?
This Hendersonville Fire Department community program is open to anyone who is at least 18 years of age. You do not need to be in any specific physical condition to participate. The program is a great experience and is open to all residents who are not active firefighters or recruits. Retired firefighters are welcome to join.
Will participating help me become a Hendersonville firefighter?
While you will get to meet and work alongside many of our local firefighters, participation in the academy does not give you priority in the hiring process.

What is the cost to participate?

How can I support Hendersonville firefighters or donate to the HCFA?
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we welcome and appreciate donations.
